The present study examines the role and position of practical wisdom as a fundamental but neglected component in sustainable leadership models. In the era of complexity, uncertainty, and ethical and environmental crises, traditional leadership models that emphasize only efficiency, control, and short-term profitability are no longer responsive to the multifaceted issues of contemporary organizations. This study, using a systematic literature review and conceptual analysis approach, attempts to explain the relationship between practical wisdom and sustainable leadership. The findings show that practical wisdom is not simply an individual virtue, but a collective and organizational competency that enables leaders to balance conflicting interests, anticipate the long-term consequences of decisions, and make ethical and responsible decisions in ambiguous situations. The results of the study also indicate that practical wisdom can be an intermediary link between instrumental rationality and moral rationality in organizations; This means that the wise leader is not only concerned with effectiveness and efficiency, but also has the ability to translate ethical values into practical action in complex situations. The research shows that knowledge sharing, organizational spirituality, learning culture, and distributed leadership are the most important antecedents of the formation of organizational practical wisdom and bring consequences such as sustainable innovation, organizational resilience, organizational justice, trust, and employee satisfaction. Finally, a conceptual and operational framework for the development of practical wisdom in organizations is presented and directions for future research are suggested.
